Developer is spamming

  • I want to add my voice to those who are calling this developer out as a spammer.

    I do not use his plugin, nor do I have any intention of using his plugin.He has now mailed me twice–one week apart–without my consent, obviously scraping my address from somewhere as it is one I never use for registering anything or signing up for email lists.

    Hundreds of web sites have embedded beautiful maps on their WordPress sites to date. Numerous people have asked us for a plugin to reduce the friction a bit, and we made an investment to do that. We’re a startup, and it’s unlikely most WordPress sites would ever realize a charge for this service.

    We found a very targeted set of email addresses of TOP WordPress developers, and so we reached out to you. If this was a misstep and offended you, we apologize!

    You’re not getting it.

    You used my email address without my permission to promote your product to me — twice, one week apart. If you “found” my address on a list as you say you did, then please note that the source of that list was also spurious, and you shouldn’t have used it. If you’re going to email your marketing messages to people you have a responsibility to make sure you’re doing it ethically.

    Another way you can be a grown-up developer & marketer, would be to just apologize when you’ve done wrong instead offering a weasely “if we’ve offended” and “if this was a misstep” non-apology. There is no “if” about it. What you did, to me an others, was just plain unethical.

    I am not the only one who has complained about your spamming. Maybe you are naive, but listen up. If you want to be taken seriously, then don’t market like a spammer would. Plain and simple.

    No, sorry, but I am not interested in doing business with you in any way.
