dev sub-domain redirecting to non-dev domain

  • I copied the install folder and pasted it as oursite-dev, then set up the sub-domain dev, but when I go to wp-admin it redirects to the non-dev domain. If I manually add the dev sub-domain, it loads the form, but submitting the form redirects to the non-dev domain. If I add the dev sub-domain to the URL again (while in Dashboard), it sends me to the non-dev admin login page. No matter what I do I go in this circle. I can’t get in to the dev Dashboard.

    It is using a copy of the database. The only thing I changed was the wp-config for the new database.

  • You need to change the urls in the database WP_options.

    so on the dev sub-domain run the following in phpmyadmin sql

    UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘https://mysite.com’ WHERE option_name IN (‘siteurl’, ‘home’)

    where mysite.com is your sub domain website.

    Then install and run the velvet blues plugin to get all the references and attachments eg images pointing to the correct site
