I’m in the early stages of converting an old HTML church site with 4 GB of podcasts (375 of them) to a WP site. They’re using Podcast Generator (non-WP) currently. I found my way to PowerPress and this SQL plugin which sounds like it MIGHT be a blessing for bringing over all those files. I can get access to their current SQL. But ultimately I’m wanting to get all these files stored off their server on Amazon S3 or the like. If I use this SQL tool now everything will link to the files on their live server. Their new site will move to a new server when ready to go live. What would be the best way to proceed? Should I get all the files moved to S3 first? But then there won’t be a SQL file! I’m a bit confused. I hope you can help me figure out a plan of action. Thanks!

    Hello @sheilahoff,

Are you ultimately going to switch to WordPress with PowerPress, or do you want to always feed the podcast website from a MySQL database?

IF the plan is to migrate then use WordPress + PowerPress, the good news is you can use a tool built into PowerPress Tools called “Find and Replace Media URLs” to literally match portion of a URL and replace it with a different portion. For example, replace the URL up to but excluding the filename (e.g https://example.com/path/to/files/) or even use it when switching from HTTP to HTTPS.

On the other hand, if you are always going to be feeding the WordPress+PowerPress website from a database, then the media URL change should happen in your database first before making the switch.

Thanks so much for your helpful response. I was on the phone with the client when you wrote and have just learned that they’re going to archive that body of work off-line. So we will hopefully be able to just start building a new archive in the new tool and not need to import everything. Now I can move forward more easily. Thank you!
