The plugin in itself does not performs any type of server-side scanning that can be used to detect cryptocurrency or any other type of malicious code. The plugin only monitors the changes in the code, the events triggered by WordPress, and suspicious code served via HTTP, anything else is out of the scope of this project.
However, Sucuri offers a premium service as part of the Security Platform [1] that includes server-side comprehensive and thorough intelligence.
