HELP i need urgently the version before this terrible update.

Your plugin was never on list of suspects for upgrades so didn’t test on staging site – now our main site destroyed – post and page editor options are screwed up. We use The7 theme + VisualCompser and nothing works unless I deactivate your plugin.

Doing that takes away all work we did with meta and the xml sitemap.

Thank you so much. Costing me so much time waste now.
Can’t get your former versions from github to get activated.
must disable your plugin. how annoying.

Used to love your plugin, very very angry about this ugly update.
I want the beautiful well known layout and features of before back please!

And that my site is functioning again.

Try updating to v.3.0.1 and then clearing your browser cache several times. If that doesn’t work you can roll back to version 2.3.5 and file a bug report/wait for a fix.

Testing first would be advised for this plugin as it often seems to have teething problems with new releases.

    Goof luck!

    Hello Barnez,
how Could I roll back to version 2.3.5 without lost evry thing?
Could I only delete 3.01 and then upload 2.3.5?
    Thanks

Use FTP (such as Filezilla) or your file manager (such as cPanel) to navigate to:

    wp-content
              plugins

Delete the wordpress-seo directory that you find in the plugins directory, and then download, unzip and upload version 2.3.5 from here. All your settings are stored in the database, so you won;t lose any. To be extra safe take a full site and database backup first.

i tried ftp, tried uploading plugin. wp refuses to activate older version. i clear my WP Rocket caching, try again. nada. finally got on test site the older to activate and then issues still hang there from the upgrade regardless, messing my post editor and VC options can no longer work with this plugin.

all trouble began when you said to click to update the algorithm. where the heck is this in DB” i looked in phpmy admin and cannot find any table for your plugin.

Finally. thank you @barnez for the link.
the one i found on git for older download of 2.3.5 was not working – this has a dot instead of – so might be reason wp had no issues activating, no idea but finally restored site and staging site to normality. 3+ h of hell.

@barnez thank you! your link works and finally after 3h of hell sites are back to normal and we can work again.
link from plugin github for the older v download was not working with wp. this one has a dot instead of ‘-‘ maybe why can activate i, or has other file, no idea. but it worked! thanks.

    1. Download the 2.3.5 version from @barnez’s link
    2. Unzip to a local folder, rename to e.g. “good-version”
    3. Upload to the plugins directory of your WP.
    4. Rename the “wordpress-seo” (3.x version) to e.g. “broken”
    5. Rename the “good-version” to “wordpress-seo”

This way things are seamless with no downtime.

@tekgirlymama —?I was having the same issue with the new version of Yoast + Visual Composer, which was making it so the Visual Composer post and page editor couldn’t be used. The solution for most people, should you try updating to the latest version again in the future, seems to be clearing your browser cache.

However, if you’re also using Cloudflare, you’ll likely need to clear the entire cache of your website on there as well. That solved the problem for me.
