Destroyed my media library

It got rid of most of my images. My client just called me to tell me I’m incompetent. This plugin will get rid of your images whether they’re being used or not.

So you are working for someone, using plugins modifying (actually deleting) files, and you don’t even make backups? Indeed, your client is right. You are incompetent, and more than that, dangerous. Sorry for the harsh words, but I am pretty sure you will be angry at the guy repairing your car if he tells you that he crashed it into a wall because it was not working properly.
Coming here, and giving a bad review is an extension of a behavior which doesn’t feel software developers or webmasters. It means that you think you did everything right, and blaming the tools you were using.
This plugin will get rid of your images whether they’re being used or not.
No, not if you know what you are doing and using it correctly. Wait, did you check the forums, tutorials, debugging pages? Also, doesn’t my plugin mention everywhere in big letters that you must make a backup? If you didn’t read the description, it’s in the tutorial. If you didn’t read the tutorial, it’s in the warning messages everywhere in the plugin itself, and to remove those warning messages you even need to change the settings. How didn’t you realize you were doing something wrong? I am looking forward to your reply.
Your review is the perfect example of the kind of users who shouldn’t use such plugins.
Now, for anybody reading this: if you recognize yourself in this user, don’t use the plugin. If you are careful and really want to clean your install, try the plugin, look at the other reviews, and you will get awesome results ??
I expect this type of plugin to be user friendly and not create any problems…but, come on, it got rid of all my images? I don’t care what your excuse is, I don’t expect to read your tutorials. It’s supposed to be an easy task but it completely failed. I need a plugin that’ll get rid of UNUSED images. Yours cleaned up the media library and it’s a complete failure. If you’re not going to listen to your users change professions.
If you were right, and if WordPress, the plugins, and everything were perfectly “friendly” without requiring anybody to read tutorials or manuals, then your client wouldn’t need you.
I am listening to my users very carefully, otherwise, I wouldn’t reply to you; have a look at the forums, when there are issues we are trying all together to understand them.
I believe that you don’t know how WordPress is really working internally otherwise it would be logical to believe that such a plugin is dangerous. It is also careless to avoid reading anything. You are doing something you don’t control, and you turning the blame to others.
I honestly hope you will change the way you think about all this. I am saying this for the best of your clients and also yourself. I am pretty sure you will understand what I am saying one of those days. Cheers.
Jordy – you are so spot on. Your plugin is great. I came here to give you a review and get confronted by this idiot review.
Your reply is classic – thanks!
I see you called your friends to help you out….just retire..
@mgarcia4 I don’t know @njwp. I hope for you that none of your clients (if you really have any) will read your messages above, your remarks like “just retire”, “change profession”, “my client just called me to tell me I’m incompetent”, “I don’t expect to read your tutorials” made me chuckle but to be honest, I think you should be more professional with your customers. There is a reason why your client called you incompetent and you should reflect on it. You are responsible for your clients’ websites.
Developer insults his users as seen by his comments when pointing out shortcomings in his plugin. It must be “nice” working with a person who can’t take feedback
I love feedback, I am always asking for it. You didn’t give any, you were basically complaining.
I didn’t insult you; I tried to help you by telling you that what you did is really wrong and that your reaction is not the right stance. I could have said that I am sorry for everything that happened to you, but it would have been a sneaky way to avoid the real problem (that is nonetheless the advice we get to handle bad reviews, as developers – check about it if you don’t believe me).
Of course, this is my opinion.
Now, back to what I said at the beginning:
I honestly hope you will change the way you think about all this. I am saying this for the best of your clients and also yourself. I am pretty sure you will understand what I am saying one of those days.
I will not reply to further replies, except if you have technical questions or a real feedback.
Got here by accident. Not a friend in any way.
Jordy – Happy you are standing up against such review. Too many people don’t understand that you are doing all that for free and that you don’t HAVE to respond, give support and take sh*t like this.
Mgarcia4 – Using a “cleaning tool” without a backup is really incompetent when you claim you are a “developer”. There are things to be learned for you. By the way, you did not provide feedback, you came here to blame the plugin for your mistake. It might not do things correctly (I don’t know… I’m not using this plugin) but the fact you did not take a backup speaks for itself.
@tigroumeow, I understand your frustration. I’ve used your plugin and it has warnings galore. But there’s no need to be nasty. People judge your plugin not so much on the number of stars but on how you provide support.
@mgarcia4, I also understand your frustration, but please try to be a bit less ad-hominem in your responses.
@marv2 and @njwp, reviews are not discussions.
In any case, I’m closing this topic.
