I am trying to add a link to a post on our blog. I am a newbie to WordPress, so please be gentle with me. ??

Below is the paragraph, followed by the link I am trying to add. I was trying to set it up so when you clicked on the word “link”, it would go directly to the article.

I followed the directions in troubleshooting regarding how to make the link work and it just doesn’t want to work. I don’t do code… Any help would be appreciated.

Please check out this link for an interview with ARC’s Director of Interiors, Kelli Trebil.

“Honest Buildings” recently interviewed her about ARC International’s commitment to sustainability and green building and how this focus was used in designing the SDGF&P Outdoor Campus in Rapid City, SD.

    <img src=”smiley.gif” alt=”HTML tutorial” width=”42″ height=”42″>

    W3Schools is a great source.

    It looks verynice,

You must be missing something, easy to do.

How are you linking to the word link?

Lets say Jeannie, so you would highlight that word then

    <a href="page url goes here/">Jeannie</a>

The word jeannie would then become active (clickable)

Highlight by dragging the mouse over the word Jeannie by left click in the document, then WordPress will auomatic add the link.

I am highlighting the word “link” going to the “Insert/Edit Link symbol, putting in the web address and clicking “insert link”

    Hi Jeanne,

What text are you trying to link and what is the address of the page you’re trying to link it to?

    Thanks

The word “here” in the sentence that starts “Please click here….”

Thanks and the page address you’re trying to link “here” to?

Okay so when you edit the post, make sure you are in ‘Visual’ mode rather than ‘Text’ (top left tabs of the edit box.

Select the text that you want to link so that it is highlighted (click and drag over the word).

Click the ‘insert link’ icon on the toolbar (looks like a chain link).

In the URL text box enter your target address (https://community.honestbuildings.com/spotlight-sdgfp-outdoor-campus/ without brackets of course)

Leave title, and lower half as is, and click ‘Add link’.

This should work, if not come back with what it does/doesn’t do – or perhaps update the post after going through these steps so I can see the code on your live page and I could take it further.

    Hello Vader!

That is what I did. Nothing happens for some reason. I am in the “visual” tab. I don’t have a “text” tab, only “visual” or “html”

I have tried this at least a dozen time now. I am so frustrated. ??
    This should be easy.

Don’t worry Jeanne – we’ll get there! Do you want me to login to take a look?

    Thread Starter Jeanne Apelseth

    (@jeanne-apelseth)

It doesn’t work either on the link from the “Latest News Current Project” menu on the sidebar or when I click on “Read More”

    (@vaderw)

Hi Jeanne, if you’d like me to check it out drop me an email with the login details and we’ll get you up and running, and post the results back here for future reference. I’ll be about for the next couple of hours ??

This should not be that hard. While editing the page in question, in the visual editor, click on the top right where it says “text”. Find and replace the sentence:

Please click here to check out the interview with Kelli.

    with the following:

Please <a href="https://community.honestbuildings.com/spotlight-sdgfp-outdoor-campus/">click here</a> to check out the interview with Kelli.
