Desperately trying to change main wrapper width

    I’m using the “Make” template and I’ve created a Child Theme, which I’ve activated. I’ve tried pasting:

    #header, #footer, #wrapper {
    width: 10px;
    }

    and similar attempts in the Jetpack custom CSS and within the child theme stylesheet but the thing won’t budge! I’m trying to get the “Sample text” in line with the central image.

    Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
