Desperate for help! Website keeps disappearing

  • Help, don’t know why this is happening. First I have lost my site 5 times in the last 2 days. Everytime I go to log in, it does another update. So went back to 3.2, rebuilt my site, everything was working, then went away for 10 minutes to check emails, now my site is gone again and it says I need to update. Did they update again without telling me? Is there a way to make them stop? Or is it something I am doing? Please help!

  • Your upgrade may not be completing successfully. Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).- backup up your dtabase

    – backing up your database

    – re-running the upgrade.

    Thanks esmi, I tried the theme switch yesterday, went back down within minutes I lost my site again, havent had the site long enough to even try plugins. Grr. Don’t know what I am doing wrong, but I will try updating again and redoing. Luckily I backed up all my database, will that still work with another upgrade.

    You need to carry out all of the steps I listed above. If you’re having problems with the site being unstable, try:

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using /wp-admin/upgrade.php.

    You can do all that without having to login to the site.
