• It looks as though Simply Static doesn’t work when developing using ServerPress DesktopServer 3.9+ which uses MariaDB instead of MySQL. Any plans to provide compatibility for MariaDB?

  • Hi Tech90,

I’d be suprised if it’s related to MariaDB, as the plugin would be communicating with WP, not the DB directly and Maria should be a compatible substitue for MySQL in this case.

What OS is this ServerPress running on? Are there any other differences to the last working environment you used (mod pagespeed, for example)?

    Cheers,

    Leon

    Hi Tech90,

I work in support at ServerPress. I spun up a basic site with DesktopServer v3.9.2 and installed/activated Simply Static plugin. Clicked the [ Generate Static Files ] button and it performed as expected. DesktopServer v3.9.2 is running PHP 7.1.13 but no PHP errors were reported and I did have Debug and Trace on. Have you tried turning off all plugins except Simply Static? Have you switched back to one of the default themes?

Operating system of the Desktop Server install is OS X (10.11.6). It worked before the new version of DesktopServer but didn’t afterward. I will check it again, now that I know that theoretically it should work. Thanks for the feedback. I will get back to you with status.

    Just another thought to try:

    – switch to TwentySeventeen theme and see if that exports OK, to eliminate the theme as a culprit
    – if default theme also has problems,I’d suggest desctivating all themes but Simply Static and trying again
    – failing that, look to environmental config, ie PHP max_execution_time as your site may have grown in size since then

“Doesn’t work” is quite vague anyway, what exactly are you experiencing? Any error messages? Did you check the Diagnostics page under Simply Static? Is everything ticked OK?
