Desktop Chrome rendering as mobile

    I’m running WordPress 5.5.1 with the Twenty Twenty theme, and the Google Chrome browser version is 85.0.4183.102 for x64 Windows 10.

    My site is being rendered on the desktop version of the Google Chrome browser as if it was on the mobile version: the magnifying glass is on the left side of the header, instead of on the right, the horizontal menu is missing, and the extended menu is the one chosen as the mobile menu on the customization settings.

    I don’t think it is a cache problem, as it happens under incognito mode and on two different desktop computers. Also, I am not using the mobile emulation feature of the Chrome developer tools. The Windows 10 Firefox browser renders the site correctly.

    I could not find any discussion of this issue on the WordPress support. This is my first post here. Sorry if I picked the wrong forum topic for this problem!

  • I suggest to:

    – Clear your browser’s cache
    – Check if Chrome is up to date
    – Try loading your site in another computer

    I loaded the site in both Chrome and Firefox, and it looks the same.

    Clearing the cache seems to have fixed the problem on one of the computers. I’ll try it on the other one next time I’m on it. I find it curious that cached content can create confusion between the desktop and mobile renderings, though. Anyway, thanks for the solution!
