• OK, so I’m designing a Word Press site with wamp. The site is just 8 or 9 pages. Can I place the content on the pages in WAMP?

I guess what I’m getting at is, I’d like to create every single page before uploading it to my server. However, when I do this, I have the layout, but all the content on every page is missing. I even have to go back and add all the pages names.

Is there a way to fix this?

  • Here’s one method.

When you’re ready to go live, do an XML export via Tools > Export.

Edit the XML file in a plain-text editor and replace all references to your WAMP domain with your live domain.

Import the XML file from your live install. Your pages and posts should be created automatically with the correct slug names, titles, etc. Upload your uploads folder via FTP. If you edited the XML file correctly, all the image paths should be correct. You will still need to upload any plug-ins and set up any widgets manually to match your WAMP install.
