Design a website I bought

  • Hi,
    I bought a one-year-old site, which is already promoted on Google with a few keywords.

    I wanted to ask if I would design the home page – install a new theme for it.

    Could it hurt my site in any way?
    Both technically, and in terms of the keywords being promoted.
