Description not showing

I’m displaying some upcoming events on my homepage and would like to include a description of the event underneath the thumbnail and date. I’ve included description=’true’ in the shortcode I’m using in the widget area, but the description is not showing. Is there something more I need to do?

This is the full shortcode I’m using:
