Hi @danishsard,
Thanks for reaching out!
Firstly, I’d like to mention that automatically changing the meta description length might alter the meaning of the added meta description or make it less helpful for the search engines – this is why we don’t provide an option for this.
We recommend writing the meta description carefully so it’s helpful for the search engines – In this process, the quality and helpfulness of the meta description have more priority than its length.
However, you can automatically set the Meta Description length to 160 characters by using our aioseo_description filter.
Below is the link to a file containing the code snippet which you can use with our WPCode plugin to limit the meta description length. You’ll need to save this special file to your local computer in your Downloads folder –

Please follow the steps below to add this code snippet to your site using our WPCode plugin:
- Log into your WordPress site and go to Plugins > Add New.
- In the Search plugins field (top right), enter WPCode.
- Click on the Install Now button next to the result for WPCode as shown in this screenshot – https://a.supportally.com/i/tpZaaJ
- Click on the Activate button.
- Next, go to Code Snippets > Tools in the WordPress menu and click on the Import tab as shown in this screenshot – https://a.supportally.com/i/PqbWyh
- Click on the Choose a file button under WPCode Snippet Import and browse to the special file I attached which you saved to your Downloads folder.
- Select the file and click the Import button.
- You can now click on Code Snippets in the WordPress menu and you should see the code snippet in the list. It’s the one called Limit Meta Description to 160 characters.
- Click on the Status toggle for this snippet to activate it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
