Hi @hunter74,
Informing your website visitors about the specific cookies that are used on your website can be done on a cookie banner, or on a cookie policy or cookie declaration.
Cookiebot adds the cookie declaration to their cookie banner. We add the cookie declaration to the cookie policy. Both are fine.
Our reasoning is that a cookie banner should provide simple instructions for granular consent and is informative for non-technical website visitors. In our opinion, the amount of extra layers in a consent banner will only overwhelm users and negate the guidelines as explained here:
The guidelines state that obtaining or revoking, consent should be as easy and clear as possible, without delay or using design elements that might confuse your website visitor about its purpose. https://complianz.io/all-about-consent-per-service-category-or-cookie/
We choose to separate the two, and for anyone interested in more in-depth information about consent, cookies and how to manage their privacy we refer to the cookie policy.
In the end it’s a personal preference, as both conform to the guidelines in their own way.
Hope this helps,
regards Aert
