    Hello!

The price for my EN ebook automatically changed to the slightly higher price for the DE edition and it’s locked.

I can’t change anything in the ‘Product Data’ section!

The Error says: “This is a translation of Lily Bowers und der ungebetene Gast : E-Book. Some of the fields are not editable. It’s recommended to use the WooCommerce Multilingual products translator for translating products.”

I clicked on the link for “WooCommerce Multilingual products translator” and it was just a simple string translation with no price or ability to change anything but some text in the EN version.

I have a digital version of my book in 2 languages. So basically, it’s 2 different products with 2 different prices.

However, I want people to toggle if they want both versions or the EN instead of the DE or vice versa. This isn’t uncommon.

Is is not allowed to have a connected translation of different products with different prices?

Is this a misunderstanding and as soon as I connected the German version to the English version, it overrode the price and locked those changes because they’re ‘connected’?.

This would make sense but then my question is: HOW can I allow people to toggle between various languages of my books?

    Thank you,
    Jess

    Hi Jess,

p.s.: Sorry, your initial thread was in german. Please contact the WPML/WooCommerce Multilingual support on that topic. Germanized does neither affect prices in WooCommerce directly nor WPML.

    Grü?e

OK, thank you! I saw several threads in German here because I thought it was a German plugin. Yeah, this is a process to find out which plugin is the culprit, so yes, I’ve posted in woocommerce multilingual too. I’ll deal with wpml when I absolutely have to. All these huge plugins working — or not working — together are a non-developer’s nightmare! :/

Yep, you are right. Setting up a multi-language store can cause quite some headaches. I would suggest to either get professional support or start with a local shop first and grow time after time. It is much easier (from a technical and marketing standpoint) to concentrate on one audience at a time ??

    Cheers

sure, it’s easier, but I have no choice. This book is multilingual.

Maybe a multi-site would be suitable? Seems like you do not need to sync stock ??
Anyway I wish you all the best!

Absolutely, I also use wpml, but yeah, using all these heavy and powerful tools messes a lot of things up and I’m not a developer and don’t have the budget to hire someone for this! Some day!

I unconnected them for now and just linked the cross sells so that if someone wants the book in another language, they can click on the link and vice versa.

Thanks for your help! At least I now know 100% that what I wanted to achieve is not possible.
