    started getting this error message today. I see that it is asking to edit the function.php file but I am hesitant to do so. I have deleted and reinstalled the plugin already.

    We made changes in our plugin code that deprecated some functions. The message is thrown out when some other plugin or theme is using our deprecated code.

    We are not sure what plugin or theme might be using that older code but we suggest first contacting your theme developer for more information.

    You may need to ultimately do a conflict check in order to figure out what plugin is using our older code. This guide explains more about how to do that: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/
