I have been playing about this afternoon for several hours with a view to buying a pro licence to fully test, and if good, an agency licence depending on price.

However I cannot see me buying even a single pro licence. The idea is excellent and in places its very good, but after working on a slide for an hour or so, depicter decided to crop all the pictures I used instead of resziing them, is filling my uploads box with every resize it has made and so the round png images I made have been cropped as square. I even made images the exact size I need and overwrote the resized image in my directory and depicter STILL over wrote it.

I don’t understand why the css cannot just resize the slider responsively rather than making loads of different sizes, and then cropping the image.

If it isn’t depicter, it is reacting with something else, but I have been using Crelly slider for years and never had this issue.

This is much more intuitive and had more effects and features thean Crelly but the results are very disappointing.

I have used all Browsers, Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Waterfox and the cropping issue appears in all of them.

I haven’t provided a link as I have uninstalled it and will come back later when more bugs have been ironed out. There are far too many for it to have been rolled out with a Pro version.

  • @blackdiamondswd That’s odd because @averta responded to my post at July 17, 2023 9:18?AM.

Maybe similar to your case (here). I was having resize issue and it’s cropping it or something. I think I just need to read their help doc since I find their UI to be mysterious and things feel big and missing tips. Missing graphic design features.

Like, I just want to make my own slider like Slider Revolution 6 LOL

I just run into that or a similar problem as well – images are out of the blue getting cropped.

Now I noticed this goes back to the screen size or primary vs. secondary screen. I did not troubleshoot it further as it just does not make sense at all. On my 13 inch MacBook all looks good. On my 27 inch external screen images are cropped (even when I use a small browser window)

As many others are facing the same problem

I think what can help is to go to each affected image on each breakpoint and slightly change the size and publish again. It helped, and I didn’t need to delete the image to add it again.

That does not solve the problem, but perhaps can help to fix things once they are broken (cropped / zoomed-in)

    @markussss

Thank you so much Markussss for your little hack. It worked perfectly.

I have the same issue, and just like the OP, I was also using Crelly Slider before. Changed to Depicter because Crelly Slider was abandoned and isn’t receiving updates for awhile.

For me, it was initially working perfectly, but the crop annoying thing started after I make custom changes for tablet and smartphone breakpoints. Maybe it have something to do with that?

Today is 21th december and I have to finish this slider for the customer before I can hit the road for christmas and its very frustrating. I will try out the resizing and resting crop that people suggested here and hope it works at least for now.

I found a solution! It’s a little janky, but it worked for me.

On some themes (Avada for me) images sometimes don’t upload as the full-size image. Unfortunately, with Depicter you have to use their image selector on the right menu versus it taking you to the media library.

I uploaded the image I wanted to use on another page. Opened the image settings from the builder, scrolled down to ATTACHMENT DISPLAY SETTINGS and changed the size from “Medium” to “Full Size”. Saved the page, edited the page again and removed the image.

Then on Depicter I added the image and it stopped cropping (:

If their photo selector allowed you to see the media library settings this workaround could be avoided.

    JK it reverted back ):

*Correction ?? When I put a border around the image it stopped the cropping. Not ideal if you have a background image rather than color and don’t want a border. But it got us through lol.
