Hello helpers. I’ve done searches here on the WP Support but haven’t found answers. My question is in two parts.

Part One: We are building a WooCommerce store site. The product is “books” but there are EPUB ebook files, Kindle ebook files, PDF files, physical copies, audiobook MP3 files, and the possibility to have the book unlocked in an app you own.

So perhaps Melinda wants “Dragons of Begarne” as an audiobook in her fave indie publisher’s app. When she purchases on the WooCommerce site, she should select her format (e.g., iOS App) and receive a code to unlock the book inside the app. If she had wanted the audiobook as MP3 files, she’d select that variant and receive a digital download link instead of a code to unlock the book in the app.

That is one question: how do we configure delivery based variant? Or is variant the wrong thing to use? Is that strictly supposed to be size, color, etc?

Part Two: Because of how the Great World of Publishing works with authors and royalties, the ebook version will likely require a different price than the audiobook version, and the in-app audio version might be less expensive than the MP3 download version. How do we handle pricing based on variant?

And again, is using variants the wrong approach to solving the problem?

    Thanks for your awesome help!

Variable products are correct; you can make one of them a virtual downloadable with a file, and the other one for the code just virtual with different price.

The only thing you need to find a solution for is how you deliver the codes based on selection, and this part might require some customisation depending on how that system needs to work.
