Delivery Charges by Suburb – not only postcode

    Hi,

    I’m located in Sydney, Australia and run a food delivery website that services specific areas within the Sydney region.

    At present I have a single shipping zones setup – flat fee delivery to a number of different postcodes.

    The problem I have is that in Sydney, one postcode could be shared by upto 15 suburbs and we wish to deliver to 14 of those as one is significantly further away than the rest
    E.G.

    The postcode 2560 contains the following suburbs and spans 312 square kilometres

    Airds
    Ambarvale
    Appin
    Bardia
    Blair Athol
    Blairmount
    Bow Bowing
    Bradbury
    Campbelltown
    Cataract
    Claymore
    Denham Court
    Eagle Vale
    Edmondson Park (South)
    Englorie Park
    Eschol Park
    Gilead
    Glen Alpine
    Glenfield
    Ingleburn
    Kearns
    Kentlyn
    Leumeah
    Long Point
    Macarthur Heights
    Macquarie Fields
    Macquarie Links
    Menangle Park
    Minto
    Minto Heights
    Raby
    Rosemeadow
    Ruse
    St Andrews
    St Helens Park
    Varroville
    Wedderburn
    Woodbine

    I want to specifically exclude Appin and Cataract.

    I need to be able to set my shipping zones by suburbs OR at least exclude some suburbs(as above)

    Would be great if there’s a plugin, otherwise open to custom coding – just don’t know where to start.

    Hi there,

    Just to make sure – will you be sending *only* to those suburbs or do you have shipping zones for the rest of the Australian states as well? If you only need those suburbs, you could look into using https://woocommerce.com/products/shipping-locations-pro/ as that allows you to customise the states of a country to suit your needs – essentially you’ll be replacing the Australian states with your own local suburbs ??

    If that doesn’t quite meet the needs, you could add another dropdown field on the checkout page using https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-checkout-field-editor/. The main caveat, however, is that this field is only for informational purposes and won’t be used in the shipping zone/method setup.

    Hi @riaanknoetze

    To confirm, we’re delivering to a specific set of postcodes currently due to the Woocommerce limitation.

    We want to deliver to approximately 25 additional postcodes, but due to the suburbs that are contained within that postcode, we’ve had to exclude it altogether.

    https://woocommerce.com/products/shipping-locations-pro/ sounds interesting. Is the suggestion here that I could customise my state ‘New South Wales’ as a custom state to only include a list of suburbs I want, bypassing the need to limit by postcode, which is what currently occurs?
