• Every time I try to uninstall my Avada Theme, I get this error. I’m trying to install an updated version of Avada but whenever I try, I’m met with this:

    “Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/a2pnexwpnas04_data02/85/3561085/html/wp-content/themes/Avada/

    Theme install failed.”

I’m very new to WordPress and I’m not code savvy in the slightest. If someone could help me figure this problem out I’d really appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

  • FTP into your site (or use whatever file management application your host provides) & rename:

    wp-content/themes/Avada

    to:

    wp-content/themes/Avada-old

Then try uploading the updated version of the theme.

This worked, thank you! Couldn’t I just delete the old folder to get rid of it in my Themes menu?

Yes, you can definitely delete it. esmi was just making sure you kept a backup, incase you’d customized it or something and realized afterward that you needed to go back.

If this happens again, try renaming the “Avada” folder to “avada” and see if that works. I’m seeing where somehow some theme folders are capitalized, but WP seems to be looking for the non-capitalized version of the folder….

Hi, I have the same problem trying to reinstall Longevity.

I installed it, decided I needed a child theme after I’d made some customizations so deleted the theme in order to start fresh.

However when I tried to Add Theme again (from depository) I get “Installation failed: -1” and the theme shows with update failed button.

So I tried to delete the theme showing and it gives the Deletion Failed message the same as the OP

I checked via FireFTP and there is no Longevity theme installed.

    Any help appreciated.
