• I am having trouble deleting my admin user. I’ve been getting lots of criminal attempts to login using admin – so I’ve changed to another username, but I cannot delet the admin user because the dropdown list refuses to show the new user in order to transfer content from admin to that user. I have several thousand users on the blog.

  • That’s going to be a very difficult task. I do not recommend deleting a row from wp_users, because rows in other tables will be orphaned and may create bad side effects.

May I suggest to look into change the username of that administrator via database. There are some guides out there that explain how to do that. However, before doing any change create a full backup of your database and files.

I found it – gone. It would help immensely if WordPress lists of users would appear in some kind of order – alphabetical would be a good start. That dropdown list appears almost random.
