Deleting Footer
-
Help wanted getting rid of a persistent footer element.
We are engaged in teaching ourselves WordPress via YouTube videos, which is going fine. Recently we were learning how to set up a footer using the Customise menu. This went fine and we were able to set up the footer with the Widgets/Footer 1,2,3 menu. No problems setting it up.
However, the problem comes in having set the menu up, how do we get rid of it? Now we have what was no more than a test following the instructions and putting our own nonsense in plastered over every page of the site.
I have deleted each of the Footer Widgets and these no longer display but the footer area itself is still there. I can switch off the Footer menu in the theme set-up but this disables the entire footer rather than does what we’d actually like to do which is change it and insert our own content. The Customise menu does not seem to allow us to create new Footer Widgets.
I have searched the web looking for a solution. There seems plenty of options for altering the php code to get rid of copyright and so forth but what I want is a simple solution that will allow me to get rid of existing Footer Widgets and then gone and create brand new ones in their place.
