deleting entries @ multi-select field with auto-complete

hi i have a CPT with a users relationship field. since the last update i am facing a problem with deleting an entry. when i hover over the “x” symbol it turns red but i can not delete it. if i push it the animation of the hand happens but no deletion.
however deleting it with keyboard/backspace works fine. also double/or triple clicking works, but i am not sure.
is this a wanted behaviour?
