I discovered that (a) NextGen creates backup copies of images and (b) that these are not deleted when you delete the original image within the plugin.

Before I do so, I wanted to confirm that the proper way to get rid of these backup files is to go into wp-content/gallery in Cpanel and manually delete them there?

  • Hello @ourobo

Go to Gallery > Other Options > Image Options >Delete Image Files?

Set that to “Yes” and save.

All the image files should be removed from the gallery folder (including the backup files).

If you already deleted some files with this option set to “No” and want to remove the backup files, you manually delete them. No problem.

Please, let us know how it goes.
    We are happy to help!
