    Just wondering if I can safely delete the Autoptimize cache when the cache size creeps up towards 500MB? What are the ramifications of deleting the cache?

    It’s taken a few months to reach this size. Is that normal or does it indicate that something is wrong?

    Thanks, J

    hey @awrymag;
    the only thing you have to take into account when purging AO’s cache is that you have to make sure any page cache (plugin, hoster, 3rd party such as cloudflare, …) also has to be deleted to avoid having cached pages that still refer to autoptimized files that were deleted.

    regarding 500MB in a couple of months; this could be normal (each theme/ plugins update can result in CSS/ JS changes and thus new AO’ed files), but it could also be an indication of a small problem. have a look at the number of files in wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js vs wp-content/cache/autoptimize/css; if most files are in the css-folder, then consider unticking the “also aggregate inline CSS”-option.

    hope this helps,
    frank
