• I have a blog I’ve run for over 15 years and recently discovered that the options table had stuff in there from plugins I deleted in the early 00s. Figuring this bloat was a reason for the sluggish speed scores I get lately, I’d been carefully (I thought) deleting old junk.. with a database cleaning plugin, until..

I got the WHITE screen of death. With a link to repairing the database. I did so, but was told the wp_options table had been deleted outright. (which I dont understand, frankly)

I have a back up, but unfortunately it is not as recent as it should be, and is from BEFORE I did a big redesign. but rather than have a white screen, I’ve restored that old back up.

I ALSO have a backup of the recent messy database, that nevertheless less contains a lot of new posts & comments, but without the options table.

    So my question is this:

is there a way of melding the two databases? EG; importing just the functioning options table into the otherwise up to date DB? or vice versa?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey @jamiebaker,
I’m sorry for this unfortunate. Yes, you can somehow combine the two databases, for example, you can import posts and comments from the early database and import the options from the other one.
But first, it would be better to learn about this subject by searching a bit. for example search for this => How to import table by table into WordPress database.
