• Hi all,

I did a really silly thing. I deleted the plugin before deactivating it and now I’m paying the price.

I deleted it because I’m trying to upload a newer version.

Now, I can’t see either plugin (the new one or the old). It’s really frustrating, but a lesson learned.

How do I deactivate the old one? Do I go in the database and make a change?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

If you deleted a plugin, WP should deactivate it when you next visit wp-admin.

You could also upload the new version via FTP, replacing what was there in wp-content/plugins/whatever.

    Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reply. The problem is, every time I go into the wp-admin, it doesn’t deactivate. I have also been refreshing a lot and nohting.

I also uploaded the new version via FTP. Same situation…

If you delete the plugin’s directory, do you get any errors? Once you’ve deleted the directory, you should be able to reinstall via plugins->add new

Is there not a more graceful way in doing this? Removing all of the plugins is kind of concerning to me considering the site will collapse.

It will be OK; the settings are in the database. Delete the directory and reinstall.

That did not work ?? Do you have any other suggestions?

In what way did it not work?

It didn’t do anything, but I figured out something… that plugins that was deleted before being deactivated, it turns out there was a permissions issue. It was different than the other folders. So once those were correct, WordPress discovered the plugin and I enabled it and it worked.

    Very interesting.
