I deactivated the free Yoast SEO plugin and then clicked DELETE thinking that I was deleting the Yoast SEO plugin off of my site. I was not prompted if I wanted to delete any associated files. Now the Yoast SEO plugin is “gone” from my site. However, I still have six Yoast SEO database files on my site that used to be related to the plugin. How do I delete those database files since I don’t need them any more?

  • Hi @hunter44,

    Thanks for reaching out.

If you want to remove all traces of our plugins, you can follow the steps mentioned here: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-uninstall-my-plugin/#database

The Yoast Uninstall instructions say that you’ll be prompted to delete the Yoast tables when you click “Delete” on the Plugins page. However, I was not prompted. Fortunately, I’ve figured out how to remove those tables using WP-Optimize.

Also, I don’t know how to search the database for those terms and delete them. Do they add to the overhead of loading my pages?

It would be awesome if you’d provide an Uninstall Yoast SEO plugin since the code and tables are so expansive. A lot of junior website developers like me have no idea how to access the database or make changes in it.

    Hi

Kindly know that the guide to uninstall the plugin, only mentions about deleting the file. To delete the data from database tables, you will have to take manual approach.

Since you are trying to remove all data of the Yoast SEO plugin, that should not impact your site negatively.

For the health and safety of your site, we recommend making a complete backup of your website, including the database file, before removing a plugin.

I followed these steps you wanted me to follow in your document https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-uninstall-my-plugin/#database

However, it looks like I still have traces of Yoast items floating around. What are these and how do I get rid of them?

    Database (Size)

    yst_ga_top_pageviews (82,150)

    yst_ga_source (18,530)

    yst_ga_top_countries (7,407)

    yst_ga_response (3,591)

    Hi @hunter44,

The database tables that you have shared are not from the Yoast SEO plugin.

These are from your Google Analytics plugin.
