I’ve set up a custom login URL for my development site some time ago + I set the WP-Cerber whitelist with only my IP and *.*.*.* in the blacklist. I neglected to update my whitelist before I added a new router. Now my IP is different and I can’t log in to my WordPress dashboard. Dumb mistake…

I deleted the WP-Cerber plugin folder using CPanel File Manager and was able to get to my dashboard with wp-login.php. However, I am able to install WP Cerber successfully but when I attempt to activate it, it kicks me out of the dashboard and sends me to the website, which implies a whitelist is still working somewhere. When I attempt to log in with WP-Cerber active, it tells me I’m not allowed and asks if I want to go to the website.

Am I missing a step prior to attempting to activate WP-Cerber?

Also, I attempted to download the WP-Cerber-Reset plugin but the download link in your pinned post did not function.

I was able to download the rest plugin. There was an issue on my browser that was preventing it from downloading.

I followed the instructions for installing the reset plugin and installed it successfully. I reinstalled WP-Cerber and when I went to activate it, it kicks me out to the website as before. I’m back to the initial problem and the only way to log into the dashboard is to delete the WP-Cerber plugin folder and login in via wp-login.php.

You have to make sure that WP Cerber detects IP addresses correctly: https://wpcerber.com/getting-started/

Agreed. I realize I didn’t do that correctly but I am now unable to activate WP Cerber after reinstalling it. Is there something else that I need to update to be able to start fresh with WP Cerber when I reinstall it?

You need to empty the cerber_acl table in the website database via phpMyAdmin.

Thanks so much! That worked and I will now follow the documentation to ensure WP Cerber detects my IP address correctly.

Thanks for your help. WP Cerber is a great product!
