• I tried to upgrade to WordPress 3.2 this morning. I couldn’t upgrade because I don’t have the latest version of PHP. But I ungraded one of my plugins (simple-page-ordering) and now I can see my dashboard, but can’t do anything with it. I can’t access the website either. I get this error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home/content/s/i/n/singer1966/html/Sandy-Roe/wp-content/plugins/simple-page-ordering/simple-page-ordering.php on line 54

I was wondering if I could go into my cpanel and just delete this plugin… would that solve my problem or cause more? I am a newbie with limited programming capabilities, so be gentle…

Your instincts are spot on. It would solve the problem.

Thanks so much for answering me… but I have a follow up question… if I delete the plugin, what “calls” the plugin to run? Won’t I also have to delete that line of code on the “calling” page?

That depends upon the plugin. Not all plugins need code to be added to the theme templates and, of the ones that do, the better ones check to see if the plugin is active first.

Wow! I am waiting for a reply from author of the plugin to see if there is a fix, so instead of deleting the entire plugin, I just went into the code and “commented” everything out… And it worked!!! I love that plugin! Hopefully he will get back with me on a fix… Thanks so very much for your help!

    No problem ??
