    Hey ??

we’ve many images on a WP-site with huge resolution (20 MPx and more).

    I set a maximum width & height (2500 & 1920) in EWWW settings; all images are mass-optimizes.

When I start Tools / Delete Originals, the deletion seems to run fine, the process bar to delete ~400 images is going to 100%.

After that, my WP-installation still has the same size and all the huge jpg-files (with more than 5 MB each) are still on the server.

When I start the “delete originals”-tool again, it seems to delete the same number of files again.

    (screenshots deletion, german language)

    What’s going wrong?

    Hi nyks-barton,

The delete originals tool progress bar will show up every time you run it as it’s going through each of the files and scanning to see if it needs to delete anything.

Can you try uploading a new oversized image and then running the delete originals scan and checking your database afterwards to see if it worked?

    Thanks for the info.

    I uploaded a 5000 x 3335px image: Link 5000x3335px JPG

Obviously, it was automatically resized to 2500×1708 px (without massoptimization). The linked JPG has a lower resolution than the filename suggests. Fine ??

How to check, whether the original file still is saved on the server? Is there any reference in WP? Or, where I have to search in the filesystem?

As those aren’t used by WordPress (the -scaled versions are), the only way to check is in your filesystem.

I can’t find an original (big) original version of the test image (oversized_image_5000x3335px.jpg) in filesystem.

But: Why I have so many huge (old) images in my wp-content/uploads folder? Example of huge image. Why this (and the others) are not deleted by Tools/delete originals ?

Are they saved in a protected or different folder? If nothing is jumping out as different about those files, then we may need to generate a debug log to see why they are not being touched. To do this:

    1. In the Support tab, check the box for Debugging and save
    2. Click on the link “Clear log” to get a clean slate
    3. Go to the tools menu and run the Delete Originals
    4. Go back to the Support tab and click on “Download log”
    5. Send that log over to us at https://ewww.io/contact-us/
    6. Uncheck “Debugging” in the support tab and save.

    Thanks!

Its the standard-upload-path. You can see it in the path above, e.g.
    …/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_6843.jpg

    I send the debug-log with your given contact-link (bubble-contactform).

As this moved to our ticket system, I’m resolving this thread. Please feel free to start a new one if you need further help. Thanks!
