• How can I get my old topics deleted? I have old posts here that I didn’t realise would be catalogued by search engines and they are public now & I consider they give away sensitive security information about technologies I use for my core website.

I’m sorry but no. Unless it is an extreme case, posts and replies are not edited here.

Forum topics will only be edited or deleted if they represent a valid legal, security, or safety concern.

If I delete my account or request that you delete all my data, will that suffice?

After all, I am pretty sure as a citizen of the UK I have the right to have my data erased.

    From Google:
“Under Article 17 of the UK GDPR individuals have the right to have personal data erased.”

It will delete your personal identifying data. It will do nothing to any old topic at all and those will remain. The only thing that will change is instead of your user ID as it is now, it will be replaced with “anonymized-12345678” (not exactly that, this is an example).

That is not at all correct and is often misunderstood. Your personal identifying information (PII) will be removed only. A forum post and/or a link to a web site is not that.

A good explanation can be found in this 5 year old topic. This comes up occasionally.

It explains it thoroughly. If you have any more questions about the www.remarpro.com privacy policy or information this site hold about you please email [email protected]. That email is from the privacy policy link Steven provided you above.

My username is “personally identifying information” as is my website URL, no?

Why do you think I want it deleted?

It’s because there is actually data that could personally identify me in the posts.

Maybe and that is why the username will be anonymized. Your email is also removed and won’t be able to be re-used on this site for a time. I don’t know what that time is.

as is my website URL, no?

No, it is not. It never has been and acting like it is, is incorrect.

Don’t take my word for it. Email the DPO. This idea is not a matter of public opinion and the moderators will not delete or edit old topics except in extreme cases. Your topics, replies and reviews are not an extreme case.

Search engine hits are never considered extreme. The posts will not be edited or deleted.

The lack of ability to delete self-posted forum topics/posts is a very bad user experience and certainly has negative privacy implications. www.remarpro.com team should seriously reconsider this odd policy. I suspect the lack of deletion ability is also a violation for GDPR and other privacy law compliance despite your reply with a 5 year old post.
