Delete customer’s saved credit card

Is this working as designed? Should removing the card on Stripe also remove it from WooCommerce?

In order to be able to investigate things further, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.?

Additionally, could you also provide us with the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Hello!

Please navigate to WooCommerce > settings > Stripe > settings, you will see a setting called Enable payments via saved cards make sure to uncheck it, so that your customers will need to add the card details manually.

On the customer side, they can delete the saved payment data by navigating to My Account > Payment Methods.

I do not need to disable “Enable payments via saved cards”. I DO want customers to be able to save cards for future payments.

However, my customers are unable to delete their saved payment cards because I have that feature disabled for legitimate reasons.

Hence, I need the ability for the admin to manually delete customers’ saved payment methods upon request.

Do you mean Is the card deleted on Stripe side, but still visible on the customer’s end? You can log in as a customer, save a card, delete that card on Stripe side. Then try again to make a test order, is the payment going through?

I probably won’t. But the user will still see a saved card on their account.

Here’s the thing: I know that deleting the card on WooCommerce deletes it on Stripe.
My only question is whether deleting the card on Stripe should also delete on WooCommerce. What’s the expected behavior?

I replicated the scenario on my test site: deleted the saved payment method/credit card on Stripe for Customer A. Then, checked under My Account if the details are still there, and yes, it is still under my Payment Methods. Tried to process an order using the saved payment that was already deleted in Stripe, but I am getting this error twice:

By design, your customer’s credit card number and security code are never stored on your website. The payment gateway gives this sensitive information directly to the payment processor. We design our payment gateway plugins to ensure credit card data never enters or passes through your website’s database. This means you need not meet the burdensome and expensive security standards required for storing customers’ credit card numbers.

Thank you. May be a feature request to also remove the payment details from the user’s woocommerce account via a webhook if possible. I understand the card number is not stored in the woocommerce database, but customers don’t know that and would want the card removed from that view.
