Delete Caption Shortcodes

    Hi-
    Im trying to delete the caption shortcodes from a large volume of posts that would take several hundred hours to go through and do manually. My organization is switching themes, and I’m building a new captioning system that is less short code dependent.

    Any ideas where to start? I want the shortcodes DELETED. I shouldn’t have to use special functions to strip them out of the content, especially since that keeps them taking up space in the content areas.

    I am comfortable running SQL on my database, as well as using regex in a mySQL dump.

    Thanks for the tip, however,relying on a plugin that just hides the shortcodes doesn’t really do what I need either. It still preserves the shortcodes in the database and in the post content, meaning that the site would need to be dependent on the plugin to operate properly. I would prefer to not have to install yet another plugin that serves no purpose other than hiding shortcodes.
