I am using the current version, WPHR 0.1.8.

I have checked the Leave Management Module Docs. Under 3.3 delete is crossed through, however in 3.4 (Managing Requests), delete is available under the dropdown and hovering over leave requests. Is deleting a request still possible?

Also, being able to clean up all of the audit logs would be useful as well.

    I have linked a screenshot.

    Thank you

    Hi Yakitorigb

Thank you for your interest in WP-HR Manager.

Good spot – section 3.4 is incorrect and needs updating. Leave Requests can currently only be Approved or Rejected. I’m not sure what the reason for this change was and will check it as it seems to me sensible to be able to clean up the list and delete old or redundant requests.

With regard to the audit logs I understand that the reason for this is that Audit trails need to be kept in case of disputes and so making it easy to delete the log would defeat it’s purpose as someone could then easily ‘remove the evidence’!

    Best wishes,

    Paul

Thank you for checking. Some more reasoning would be if a user sends a leave request and would later like to change or cancel, it would be very useful to cancel and delete, rather than only being able to “reject” (in order to mark it as being cancelled), as there would be multiple HR Managers and real rejected requests and cancelled requests would be indiscernible.

So I have found out two things. The reason it’s not visible is that it’s only a feature if debug mode is enabled. Second, the dev team are very against having it visible as a normal feature because if users deleted leave in the current leave period the available amounts would be messed up and it could get very confusing for employees and admins who would not have the correct totals to work from. We can see that you might want to delete mistakes or ‘old’ leave – but the risk of messing up current year figures is considerable and would probably create more problems.

I’m going to schedule a further discussion about whether we could create an ‘archive’ feature to hide older requests without affecting the totals but this won’t be something we could implement for some time.

    Best wishes
