    I Have a few questions.
I have compressed images and regenerated images thumbnails on my site but I have moved to a new theme and need to regenerate the images.

    1. If I regenerate images will it regenerate from the original images or the attached images?

    2. If not do I need to reattach the original images first?

    3. Does it replace the original attached image or do I need to do this manually?

    4. how can I switch to the original images without doing it one by one?

    5. how do I delete all the old images.

By default, WordPress regenerate images from original images.

That said, this forum thread likely answers most of tbe above questions:

These will likely require some other plugin or a custom script.

In general, things like deleting images, replacing oringnals, etc are outside the scope of the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.

The one exception to this is the setting Delete thumbnail files for old unregistered sizes in order to free up server space. This may result in broken images in your posts and pages. found in Tools->Regenerate Thumbnails.
