I arranged the statuses to put “Pitch” status on the top but a new post still defaults to “Draft” status. How can I make “Pitch” the default new post status?

    Hi @joeco

    Thanks for using PublishPress Planner.

Rearrange the position does not mean change the default status for new post.

Currently it’s not possible to change the default status for new post. However we will add it as a future improvement.

We are planning to release new plugin that handles custom status. We think this request will fit a lot there.

@joeco The new plugin is called PublishPress Statuses. It is already available on GitHub, but we are waiting until the first week of January to launch it here. WordPress has some hard-coded behavior that causes a post to always start in the draft status. Instead of fighting that, this new plugin causes the next status selection in your publication workflow to be selected by default.

    1. Publish panel toggle button is relabeled as Workflow. Click it:

    2. Selection defaults to next available status, Pitch:

    3. The post status is now “Pitch”:

    4. Plugin setting (Statuses > Settings) required to enable this workflow behavior:

If you are familiar with installing pre-releases from GitHub, you can find this plugin there along with the compatible PublishPress Planner release (version 4.0.0). Otherwise, watch for releases here in the first week of January.
