    Hi everyone,

We want to set the default value of every cookie on “yes”, that every cookie is completely active until the customer click the “Accept”-button in the cookie banner.

Problem is that before the customer click the acceppt button of the cookie banner every cookie is already set on “yes”. In germany thats not allowed.

Before clicking the accept button of the cookie banner the cookies value should set on “no”.

    Can anybodey help?

    Hi @lunchglaz,

Greetings, we’re delighted to assist you!

The categories on your plugin are now in the “enabled” state by default. This is the reason why the value of the cookies is set by default to “Yes.”

Please edit each category under the Cookie Category heading in the plugin menu. The option to set the category’s default state to “disabled” can be found there.

    Dear @webtoffee
    thanks for reply.

My problem is when I set the default to “inactive” and the customer click on accept on the cookie banner nothing should be tracked….

    Hi @lunchglaz,

The cookies that are set on your site prior to consent are only the Necessary category cookies of our plugin. They are required to load for the proper functioning of the plugin. When a user gives consent all the cookies are loading on your site.

From the cookie settings a user can disable any categories which you have kept enabled by default so that cookies will be set based on the enabled category on the user’s browser.

Additionally you can add this shortcode: [cookie_reject] to GDPR Cookie Consent > Settings > Customise Cookie Bar > Message box to enable a reject button on the banner.

This gives users extra option to reject cookies at the outset so that no tracking script will be set without consent.

    Hi @webtoffee
On our site the cookies that are set prior to consent are not only the Necessary category cookies. The unnecessary like marketing and analytics are set prior to consent as well. But thats not correct and not allowed in germany. Only after the customer accept the cookie banner the unnecessary cookie should be set.

    Thanks for help!

    Hi @lunchglaz,

We discovered that no cookies were added to the cookie list on your site. As a result, please perform a cookie scan by providing your email address. You will be sent a password that you can change later. Log in with this credential to the cookie scanner and run a scan. After scanning, click “Add Cookies to Cookie List” to add the cookies to the Cookie List.

To change the default state of the marketing and analytics categories, go to cookie category > Edit Marketing category > select category default state as “disabled.” Change it similarly for the analytics category.

Hello, I have the same issue. Tried everything, all the options in Category Default Status are set to disable. I did a new scan as you suggested.

    Hello there,
I have the same issue. In my opinion it’s a bug because your suggestion @cookieyesteam is not solving the issue. Or am I missing sth. here?

Please let me explain my use case:
No matter if I set the suggested value (default state of category) to disabled or not my analytics cookies are stored locally before interacting with the content banner. If I now save the cookie settings with analytics cookies set to disabled the analytics cookies are removed. But what we want is that the cookies are not stored before the user accepts them.

BTW when I reload the page afterwards it seems that the analytics cookies are reloaded again despite my settings.

I tested all of this in the developer tools in safari, chrome and firefox.

    Feel free to test: https://cheast.online

    Thanks in advance,
    Max
