Default true but not work

Hello,
I have tried to add a custom field use true/false to all of the page, name is sidebar.
Default value is true.
I can see the true options with a checked box inside all of the page, but it return false.
If i uncheck and check the box again and save the page, its return true and work.
Am i miss some step to made it work on default?
