I set up profiles for our sites contributors/authors/editors etc with a page that lays out there info and profile photo. Some had profile photos already present while some had the generic avatar image for a profile photo. Inside of UM, I set a copy of our company’s logo as a default profile photo, but it overrode the unique user photos that previously exsisted, so I went to remove it. It let me unclick the logo in the media window that pops up, but it’s now displaying the generic avatar next to the default profile photo setting instead of the the small empty rectangle that was there before. It is now overriding all of the user photos with that default avatar image, even though inside of the user area the users with unique photos have had them paired with their accounts this whole time. It’s essentially acting like I have selected the generic avatar image and then still overriding any unique user photos that are either present in the WordPress user profile, uploaded through the UM profile page, or set up through the Better Studios Publisher theme that is on the website.

How can I get it to revert back to how it was originally? Also, I don’t know why but it’s just on the page that is listing all of the contributors to our site. On a post or author page or site search, the correct user photo does show up where they should.

I’ve kept working with it and it seems to be related to WordPress’ use of avatars in settings being able to override the plugin.

    Hi @mctnewspapers,

Are you referring to the Gravatars?
Do you have “Use Gravatars” enabled in Ultimate member -> Settings -> General -> Users section?

    Regards.

Yes the gravatars. It’s been both checked and unchecked as I’ve been trying to work out why it changed. Either way though it loads the same default gravatar for all users.

    Hey there,

After working on the issue more it became apparent that I got the issue backward. Ultimate Member was working perfectly fine and it was my theme (Better Studio’s Publisher theme with the Newspaper Layout specifically) that had the issue which has now been sorted out by their support team. When the issue popped up, UM had most recently been updated, so I thought that the update was what resulted in the issue, but it appears it must’ve been an issue that had existed since my theme’s last update and I just didn’t notice.

Thank you for responding though and I apologize for the confusion, but the issue is resolved.
