    Hi all, I have done a little searching around this site, but not come up with anything that seems to help me.

    Is it possible to define a list of presets or default options for when creating a new post?

    ie – I’m developing a community-based website, which posts are to be the main way of displaying information, but by default new posts have “allow comments” in the discussion tab checked…?

    Is there a way to stop this being checked as default? – whilst allowing the user to actively check this box, should it be needed?

    I thought about editing the .php page;
    blog/wp-admin/post-new.php and finding the bit where the checkbox is displayed – is this where the check box gets it’s default value from?

  • Under Options > Discussion there are two settings:

    * Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)
    * Allow people to post comments on the article

    Both of these set whether pingback/trackbacks and comments are on by default in the post editor.

    Thank you – I knew it was probably easier than I was making it for myself.
