• Hello. My website was updated to 5.0.1 and somehow the texts which were all in the default ‘Paragraph’ blocks are now converted into ‘classic editor’ blocks. And whenever I press enter to change paragraphs the new block shows up as “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.” The paragraph block itself isnt inside the list of blocks when I click on ‘Add Block’.

Another admin told me he got SSL installed last night. Does this have anything to do with it?

Thank you for your time and help.
    My website is https://www.kamzangjourneys.com

  • Same thing happened to me — I have Classic and Classic Paragraph blocks, but I don’t have the simple Paragraph block anymore. I’ve not posted in a week, so I don’t know if it’s due to the 5.0.1 upgrade or the Classic Editor plugin.

I don’t mind the Classic Editor block, but if I want to write in something like the Classic Editor, then I’ll use the Classic Editor.

@allyngibson – I had the same. Then I deleted the classic editor plugin, now I only have Gutenberg and it works well with paragraphs. Unfortunately the “revo composer” that my theme uses, is not working anymore…

I went through my plugins and, with experimentation, found that disabling the TinyMCE Advanced plugin restored Gutenberg’s paragraph block.

Maybe checking this option can restore this functionality without need of removing TinyMCE Advanced.

    Hello,
As @allyngibson suggested, I deactivated the TinyMCE plugin, now the simple ‘Gutenberg’ paragraphs are back, and the classic editor still has the same toolbars as before. Dont know what went wrong, but TinyMCE must have some issues with the new update.

After updating the TinyMCE Advanced plugin today I can now get rid of the classic paragraphs by using Convert to Blocks.

My whole post has blocks marked with “This block contains unexpected or invalid content”, though. Guess need to convert every post one by one.

I take the good of the new editor and wait for all the issues to be solved over time. Think there is a lot of potential, and since this is a work in progress, good things are going to happen. Hopefully.

disabling the TinyMCE Advanced plugin restored Gutenberg’s paragraph block.

This is a setting in the TinyMCE Advanced plugin, see: https://ps.w.org/tinymce-advanced/trunk/screenshot-5.png?rev=1997951. Currently there is a but only in Edge that prevents the “Classic Paragraph” block from loading properly, fix coming up ??
