• Lovely app.

One problem is many users have complained about not being able to rotate as the default is Portrait. See The Register article comments on PWA’s https://www.theregister.com/2021/05/04/one_of_apples_monopoly_defenses/ for more.

Can this be set to Follow as default. I don’t see a security risk as no permissions required to follow.

This would solve many complaints as your plugin is nearly default across the WordPress web.

We do have an option in superpwa settings. Using this Orientation you can set it as per your requirements.

Orientation is set to Portrait by default (as ur pic), so lots of PWA sites are fixed and annoying because of this.

Orientation default should be Follow Device not Portrait

IOS does not take orientation from the manifest. It prefers user handle(device orientation) to manage it, not from the manifest.

iOs uses Follow Device and no longer allows the manifest to dictate orientation as that was a hang-over from 1-gen Apps for mobiles.

Whilst iOS ignores the orientation declaration, Android – by far the most popular OS in the world – does still allow orientation and by setting the selected option to Portrait, most users – myself included when I first used your plugin – won’t realise this.

If it is set to Follow Device Orientation then it stops that.

I care little about you or your plugin. It was nice as it was really the first on the scene that did a nice job of PWA’s, But there are many many more competitors now and almost all of them ignore device orientation completely.

Last post on this. fix that issue and 95% of PWA WordPress web-apps will resolve one of the biggest UI issues with PWA and most complained about on The Register.

Thanks for the concern about our plugin. We will look into this.
