    After the most recent plugin update, my previous issue was resolved and I can now activate the plugin and the Name field is replaced by First Name and Last Name.

    However, on users’ profiles, it shows the Name value. It appears in this format: FirstnameLastname (no spaces). When you go to “Profile”, it shows Name and my other profile fields. When you click edit, then it shows the First Name and Last Name fields which is odd. Any idea’s what’s going on with this one? Is it a set up issue on my side?

    Thanks!

    Apart from the oddity of the missing space, this is expected behaviour. The plugin only shows “first name” and “last name” fields on the profile edit screen and registration page. Everywhere else, it shows the synced BuddyPress “name” field, which is always populated with $full_name = $first_name . ' ' . $last_name;

    Regarding the missing space, can you explain the steps to reproduce this?

    Cheers, Christian

    Ok, I didn’t know that was the expected behavior. Thanks for confirming!

    As far as the missing space, the steps to reproduce this is all I did was activate the plug in, and any existing OR new users display firstnamelastname, @username on their profile instead of firstname lastname, @username.

    I suspect there must be something other than this plugin affecting things. I’ve just tried a clean standalone instance and a clean multisite instance and cannot reproduce what you describe.

    I discovered it wasn’t because of a plugin or theme issue. The problem was that in BuddyPress settings, “Enable BuddyPress to WordPress profile syncing” was not checked. Checked it and all is working as expected. Might be worth putting in the plugin info/documentation if it’s not there. Took awhile to narrow it down lol.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for pursuing this and finding out what’s going on. Much appreciated. I can override that BuddyPress setting from this plugin to avoid the issue in the future – though perhaps it’d be better to enable/disable this plugin depending on BP’s setting? After all, if BP’s syncing is off, it could be assumed that the site admin does not want the functionality of this plugin either. Do you have a preference?

    Sure thing! I think it would make sense to override the setting from the plugin, especially since apparently this feature requires it to be set. I agree that if the setting is off, then it seems like the admin doesn’t want the functionality of the plugin. If they want it, they’d have to turn it on. SO might as well let the plugin take care of it. It would’ve been convenient in my situation earlier.

    Thanks!
