• Unfortunately after trying many times, I could not make it work. It worked when I first set up the plugin but later on it stopped working on new posts and as well as it is not showing up no featured image on the backend displays. BUT Default Images only START TO APPEAR after TRASHing them on the trash folder and restoring back.

    Could you please help with this issue? I research the issue but could not find any solution. I have even tried with classic guttenberg as well.

    Does the assignment work if you just save the post (without trashing it)?

    No it does not work without trushing it.

    How to resolve this problem Mr. Stehle? Is this a bug and will be resolve in the next update? Please help!

    Thanks

    I did some researches in the WordPress core code. The image is (or in your case: should be) set if a post is created, updated or published. Untrashing a post is like updating it, at least its status.

    I don’t see any reason why your posts get the image during untrashing only. Is your WordPress installation correct and up to date? Does the experience also occur if all plugins are deactivated except QFI (to find out if any plugin interferes)?

    Thread Starter usitg

    (@usitg)

    I have tested your plugin QFI for many scenarios;

    tested by deactivating all plugins except QFI
    tested with different theme
    tested with fresh WP files
    tested with different post types such POST and PAGES

    and result is that I could not make it work in normal conditions. IT WORKS only if you click to publish button again even you do not update anything after initial publishing. You can make changes and click to Publish button, it still works.

    I was looking for some plugins to trigger to republish or change the post somehow and tested different plugins for this purpose but did not work.

    So the solution is in you Mr. Stehle. How can we solve this problem to make it work? We need your please!

    Thank you so much.

    Thank you very much for your efforts to get a result. Do I interpret it correctly if I assume that there had been no automatic images if the posts were saved as drafts? That should work, actually.

    Or do you use an importer to create the posts?

    Thread Starter usitg

    (@usitg)

    I havent check with the drafts. This issue occurs when publishing posts for the first time and no featured images assigns as I described above. BUT if you click to the publish button without even changing anything then it starts to show a featured image.

    So again how to fix this? What is the solution?

    It seems for me that you create posts with an importer. If that is the case which importer do you use?

    Thread Starter usitg

    (@usitg)

    I use a theme called adforest. It is for classified ads. Wp bakery required plugin for the theme work. I dont know if you consider those as importer?

    Can you also give me some importer names so I will understand what you mean?

    Plugin Author Martin Stehle

    (@hinjiriyo)

    There are more terms for the import process: aggregation, content syndication, autoblogging. Known plugins for automatic content aggregation are WP RSS Aggregator, WordPress RSS Feed Retriever, RSS Post Importer, Syndicate Press. The softwares you mentioned are not importers

    Some users reported issues with page creators like WP Bakery. Those plugins have in general an own way to save posts. Quick Featured Images uses the standard WordPress functions to apply the rules for default images.

    I can not give support for price-based themes and plugins since I do not have any copy of Adforest and WP Bakery, sorry.

    Hi there. I’m having exactly the same problem:

    “It worked when I first set up the plugin but later on it stopped working on new posts and as well as it is not showing up no featured image on the backend displays. BUT Default Images only START TO APPEAR after TRASHing them on the trash folder and restoring back.”

    It’s literally what happened to me. I’m using WPeMatico. If the posts are created as drafts, it doesn’t work either, only when I publish them. So, the featured image is only appearing when I change post status. Any ideas how can I solve this? Thanks in advance.

    Mr. Stehle,

    Can you at least check and add compatibility with these plugins in the next update. You can access the plugins without no issue since they have free versions as well.

    By the way, as I mentioned previously I tested QFI in many different way. So plugins or themes are not causing the issue we had. It should be related to WP compatibility.

    It looks like other users @aphador and others get affected as well. So solving this issue will prevent losing customers and increase your sales and feedbacks.

    Thank you for your support.

    That resource can help you: Get and Set Images as Featured with WPeMatico.

    @usitg
    I will give it try, but I’m busy, so please be patient.

    @hinjiriyo thanks for the answer, but it’s not helpful. See, this WPeMatico function it’s only for “feed with image in every item content”. This is not my situation, i want to use your plugin to define an image to every post automatically.

    @aphador
    I did some close looks to the code of WPeMatico and saw that both plugins can not work together, I got an idea of a solution and wrote a request in the plugin’s support forum.
