Default H2 tag for Titles

    Some time back I found out that you should make sure to have one H1 tag on your posts & pages. In the Customize section, I noticed that OceanWP had the title set to H2. Why would they have the default set to H2 as opposed to H1? I changed it to H1 but I’m considering changing it back to H2. Did they set it to H2 so that users can create an H1 heading in the main content section of the post? I wanted to double check why the default was set to H2 for the title.

    Hi, a heading change should just change the heading, nothing else, if you have issues when you make the changes, it is another problem.

    hi, what i do is, open customizr -> blog -> single post -> element positioning -> disable title (click blue eye until grey), so i get one h1 in every post

    about your question “Why do they have a default set to H2 as opposed to H1?”, sorry, I don’t know, although h1 is now no longer a ranking factor in terms of SEO, but I think it’s still good practice to create a systematic writing structure in the article and can make it easier for readers to understand our article, maybe we must consider it

    H1 is important for SEO – it’s better to have one H1 than no H1’s. I’m not familiar with the Element Positioning option in the customize screen. But there is page Title and Post Titles which is confusing and they are both defaulted to H2. I believe I chose the general option to have H1 for the Page Title which only Google sees and my page title to either H1 or H2. It’s confusing.

    The only way to know for sure is to make every possible change combination, save and then view the source and search for H1.
