    Hi Jacob,

I have some configuration questions that I haven’t been able to answer myself by changing various settings.

1/ I’d prefer to keep the shortcode as simple as possible for the website members to remember and use so [wppa type=”photo” photo=”44″][/wppa] is fine. Is there a settings to restrict the default size of the photos, as currently they fill the page with that shortcode, which is a bit excessive ??

2/ in the thumbnail view, is there a way to not show the photo file name, i.e. holiday1.jpg , but rather show override anything that is present on the system and display the PhotoID number (which is required for the Photo Display shortcode) ?

3/ lastly, this isn’t important, but maybe a nice to have sometime, is there a way that the ‘delete’ option is not shown in the thumbnail views, but when the photo owner actually clicks on the photo to enlarge it can the delete button show there. The idea here is that it keeps the thumbnail nice and clean for members, but still give them delete capability.

    Thanks in advance,

    Laurence

    1. You can set Table I-A1 to a pixelsize, say 350.
    This way you loose responsiveness.
You will need additional custom css settings to enable for text besides the image.
If this is useful for you i can help you with that css.

    2. Untick Table II-D1 .. Table II-D7 except Table II-D3.
Set as default description in Table IX-D5: Photo # w#id and tick Table IX-D3. Upload a new photo and see how it looks. If this suits your needs, run Table VIII-B4 to implement it for all the existing photos.

    3. You can not click on the popup outside the image currently, so this is not so simple to implement…

If you like, I can make a special shortcode for your users, something like:

to display photo number 4711, in the format you define in the settings.
    Idea?

    Hi Jacob,

I set Table I-A1 to a pixelsize of350. This looked really good when I inserted the shortcode [wppa type=”mphoto” photo=”201″][/wppa]

Unfortunately I had to reset it to auto as it changed the display of my album content from 3 rows of 5 photos each to 15 rows of 1 photo in a column in the centre.
    [wppa align=”center” type=”thumbs” album=”#lasten,0,15″][/wppa]

The offer of a shortcode [photo 4711] would be gratefully received, maybe with a pizelsize setting of 350 so I could leave Table I-A1 set to auto.

I will test your Point 2 suggestions over the weekend – thanks.

I will implement the [photo ..] shortcode in the next version with option settings ( in the settings page ): size (e.g. 350 px), align (e.g. center) and type (plain image, image with caption (like type=”mphoto”), image with extended caption (like type=”xphoto”).

If you need more options pls tell me now, so i can do it right away.

    Hi Jacob,

That combination setting would be excellent, and achieve exactly what I’d like to have form my website members.

    Thank you

If you are still indevelopment phase, you can test it in the currend development version 6.6.13.Beta.003
Read this doc page for instructions.
See Table IX-L for the associated settings.

Thanks Jacob, I will load this into my Development site as soon as I get a clear period to work on it.

I have tested the suggestions you gave earlier in this thread, about number photos (2. Untick Table II-D1 .. Table II-D7 except Table II-D3. Set as default description in Table IX-D5: Photo # w#id and tick Table IX-D3. Upload a new photo and see how it looks. If this suits your needs, run Table VIII-B4 to implement it for all the existing photos.)

When I’ve tried it it all works when uploading through the Admin uploader, but not through the front end uploader.

Is there some settings I need to set to get this to work on the front-end uploader ?

Also, could I get it to work with the Photo Name and leave the description available for members to add their comments. The Photo name is often IMG001.JPG or something (straight of someone’s camera), so wouldn’t do any harm to overwrite it with Photo 123 etc. Happy to add some custom CCS if its not something that others would benefit from.

    Cheers,

    Laurence

Sorry. This requires Table II-H8 to be ticked.

In 6.6.13 you can use w#id in photo names.
I will modify IX-D13 to use it a text (with w#id) per default; in combination with UNticking II-H7, you will get uniformity and users do not need to bother.

    Hi Jacob,

    Dev version all loaded up.

The w#id function is working great in the Photo Name, leaving the description available. Thanks.

The [photo 123] function is working, but has an unexpected result. It seems to always want to place the photo at the bottom of the Topic or Reply box.

So if you put [photo 989] then some text underneath it, when it is saved the text goes to the top of the box and the photo sits on the bottom (located left, centre, right as per instruction in settings).

Also if [photo 1234] is the only thing in the Topic/Reply box, on saving a big empty box is created with the photo in the bottom of it and blank space above it.

I’m sure members can live with it, unless you can spot why it is doing this.

    Thanks,

    Laurence

Can you supply a link to a page that shows the problem?

    Hi Jacob

This all works now – thanks for this.

One thought, would be to create a routine similar to ” Table VIII-B4 to implement standard Name for all the existing photos. I’ve gone through everyone’s albums manually to do this, but others may find it useful nice to have

    Cheers

Yes, now we have at least one keyword in photo names, it makes sense. I will add it.
