    Hi,

I’m creating a site using Soliloquy’s free theme. My problem is I can’t get the widgets I want to display in my posts’ sidebar – whatever I do it only display the post’s ‘excerpt’.

Under Appearance > Widgets I have the option to choose widgets to appear in the ‘Default Blog Sidebar’ and there are also a number of alternative sidebars. Initially there were no widgets in the Default Blog Sidebar, so I selected some. On the post edit form, under ‘Nimbus Sidebar Options’, I have the option of where the sidebar will appear (left, right or not at all) and whether to display the default sidebar or an alternative one. I can successfully hide the sidebar completely, and move it from left to right, but it ignores my choice of sidebar (or widgets in sidebar) and just displays the post’s excerpt.

I’ve tried setting up an ‘alternative’ sidebar and selecting this in the post edit form, but same again – just the excerpt.

There is an identical set up for pages, with default and alternative sidebars and the same options on the edit page – here it is working perfectly and I can get the widgets I want to display.

I have tried removing and re-adding the widgets – doesn’t work.

Interestingly, if I click Customize when on a page and navigate to widgets I can change which widgets appear in the Default Page Sidebar. But if I click Customize when viewing a post and navigate to widgets this area isn’t available to edit – only widgets in the header and footer.

A bug with the theme? The sidebar widget area seems to be missing. Is this something I can change in the sidebar.php?

The site is currently in construction mode so I won’t post a link, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
    Frances

I am sorry but that theme is not supported here. Although free, it is still a commercial theme. The developer might have a forum you can join.

If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations. Doing this will provide the developer with the income they need to make WordPress awesome.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry – I didn’t know. Will try and find such a forum.
